HOLLYWOOD, CA ( 2016/7/29: Mattel uses real-time, mo-cap technology to produce the Barbie Vlog animation series:

This technology converts live performances of actors wearing leotards into animated cartoons in real time. It’s also used to create games and to measure the performance of star athletes by capturing their motion into 3D models. MotionBuilder for motion capture and UE4 for a game engine animation pipeline.

This Call of Duty clip demonstrates how this technology, using 200 cameras on a bare sound stage, makes a live actor into an animated character:
